About The Role

Service Technician – Sunderland

Monday to Friday – Early Start Early Finish – Optional Weekend Overtime

Did you know that phs Group collects over 60,000 tonnes of hygiene waste from our customers on an annual basis? That includes a lot of tampons and nappies! Don’t worry – thanks to our partnerships with other waste management companies, we divert most of it away from landfill and use it to create renewable energy! This means there are houses across the UK currently being powered by our customers used nappies and period products.

That’s where you come in.

We’re currently looking for someone to join our team in Sunderland to collect washroom waste from our customer’s sites and return it to our depot based in Peterlee on a weekly basis.

Your time will be split. You’ll spend around a third of your day driving around customer sites – On average you’ll drive 80 miles per day, or 18,000 miles per year. The route is pre-planned and will feed through to your PDA so you don’t need to worry about spending time planning the journey.

You’ll start early, but that means you finish early too. There’s overtime available at weekends, but you don’t have to work weekends if you don’t want to.

The rest of your time will be spent in customer sites – Depending on your route, this could be a full day in one large site, on other days it may be 30 stops into small businesses. You’ll arrive – say a quick “How are you” friendly welcome to the customer – then empty their sanitary and nappy bins and service their urinals in a discreet, hygienic manner. You’ll also replenish any other phs products they have (Vending machines, Air Fresheners etc…). If they’re a new customer, you may find yourself installing small products – So being handy with a drill is a plus.

The role has a real focus on customer service - you’re the person our customers see on a daily basis and it’s your service that keeps our customers happy and wanting to continue working with us.
