 Roisin Washroom Service Technician

I've been working for phs Group as a female Washroom service technician for 15 years and it's something I thoroughly enjoy.  There may be early starts but that equals early finishes which is perfect for family commitments i.e. being able to pick the children up from school and be there in evening times to share quality family time together. There are no weekends (only if you wish to have that spare money if you require) no bank holidays and a generous holiday allowance and bonus schemes. No working day is ever the same, my office is out on the road in the open where I visit wonderful places and meet great customers. We are very lucky to service not only Retail, Schools, Leisure and Health sectors etc but also Stately Homes, Country Parks and beautiful Hotels. You will get fantastic support and full training when you start and there is always someone whether that be your manager or a fellow driver who is only a phone call away to help you with any queries you have. I'd highly recommend working for phs Group to anyone!

Angela Washroom Service Technician

I have worked as a service/technician for phs for 10 years now. Firstly, based in Bristol and now working as part of the Swindon depot. It was only supposed to be a temporary job for me as I was made redundant from my previous job at Astrazeneca and thought I would do this until I found another job, but I was amazed how much I enjoyed it.

I've been in an office environment for last 20 years so this was quite a big change for me.

I've always worked in the public sector since I was 16 so I have a great passion for providing customer service and have 32 years of experience.

I love being part of a team but also like the freedom of being out on the road, meeting new people every day and no 2 days are ever the same. I pride myself in building relationships with my customers, many of whom I still have today as my regulars. I go to some lovely places (especially Henley on Thames) and get to see lovely scenery as well as working local to where I live.

If you are willing to go the extra mile you will be rewarded for your hard work which I like, gives you an incentive. There are lots of rewards and benefits working for phs, more now than ever. Overtime always available, no weekends, bonuses, and generous holiday allowance. Discounts for cinema, eating out.

I have recently been given the opportunity to go for a class 2 qualification for HGV, paid for by phs. Something I've always wanted to do but couldn't afford it. This is just one example of what training is available. There are numerous modules and courses available along with support and encouragement.

I have trained many drivers over the years which I enjoy. Sometimes it's nice to have company in the van and I take great pride in what I do so have the patience to train anybody.

I have found phs very supportive over the years especially when I had to have alot of time off to nurse terminally ill family members and bereavement leave.

So if you have a passion for customer service, love driving or even just being part of a team then I would highly recommend working for phs Group.

 Rachel Training and Wellbeing

I began working at PHS in September 2019 as a Service Technician for Hayes Healthcare. My favorite part of the role was the freedom to travel and meeting lots of new people throughout my daily route.

During the Pandemic, as a company, phs Hayes Healthcare serviced many of the testing stations and care homes throughout Hayes and the surrounding areas. Whilst it was a difficult period for all, I was proud to be part of a team of frontline staff, working hard to make a difference to the local community in the effort against Covid19.

Since then, in 2021 I was promoted to Training & Well Being Coordinator. This is a newly created role, that with the help of my team and input from other regional TWC’s, I have been able to learn and develop. Working between the Service Technicians and the office staff, I am tasked with training all newly recruited drivers as well as ensuring all current drivers are kept up to date with their e-learning. In addition, a key aspect of the role is to keep an eye on the wellbeing of the Service Technicians and the staff around me which I achieve by allowing some one-on-one time. As a former Service Technician, I am aware of the highs and lows of the job and can recognise the need for support.

What I enjoy about the role so far is the opportunity to network with staff in other depots as well as getting to know my team better.
