About The Role

In January 2021 the regulatory requirements for Clinical waste environmental permits changed requiring phs to review our current permits and submit updated management plans. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced project or environmental manager to join us for 6-months.  The project requires a full review of all Permit Waste Management systems in a short period of time.

About this role...

Traveling extensively throughout the UK, you will work with site teams to implement a new standardised management system whilst developing a gap analysis for new infrastructure requirements so that we meet the new requirements in the allowed time scales. 

The right candidate will need to hold a Certificate of Technical Competence at NVQ Level 4 high risk operator competency for hazardous waste treatment and transfer, and have prior experience of environmental permitting applications, fire prevention planning, odour management planning and environmental management systems, including ISO 14001.

Working alongside a competent Safety and Environmental team, you will lead the project to modernise and standardise our permit management system. The experience you will gain will be at the highest level of permitting activity ue to the broad range of waste types and collection arrangements PHS handle.

All of our permits include, offensive waste, hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste and chemicals; the right candidate needs to understand the waste streams and their specific handling requirements.

The candidate

  • Must be a highly motivated autonomous manager capable of communicating well with senior management team.
  • You will need to be highly organised and be to deliver against agreed timelines
  • A degree in environmental management is desireable but not essential
  • COTC HROC 12-1 I.. a must
  • Whilst the location can be anywhere in England, we are more than happy to consider any candidate anywhere in the UK.

  • £35k pro rata.
